Tips Wiki How the Stock Tail Should Look

This post is just to show how the tail should look when properly installed. There's been some problems after crashes getting everything put back together the right way, so here's a pic of how it should look.

The short part of the tail gear rides on the bearing. The gear should be straight and not have any flex in it. If it has flex, you've likely got the tubing on too tight. Also the gear should ride in the middle of the pinion.

After hard landings or crashes make sure that the tubing is on all the way and the gear is meshing properly so it doesn't come undone in flight =)

In this pic I have some extra space between the mounts on the rotor and the plastic gear. This appears to be a manufacturing tolerance error and either the holes are not big enough, or the pins are too big, but either way the space should not be there.

Alternately when you get so you are not crashing you can put a small wheel collar, or a grommet from the canopy in place of where the fuel tubing was to hold the tail rotor on. This helps so that you don't have to worry about the rotor coming loose as much. I don't have a pic of that though, if anyone else does, feel free to upload.
